Rather than focusing on physical techniques, this session emphasizes the mental and emotional readiness that underpins true self-defense. Drawing from the principles and practices of martial arts—such as Bushido (integrity and strength), Kamae (stance and readiness), and Mokuso (centering the mind)—participants will learn to build a powerful self-defense mindset that fosters inner peace, sharp focus, and calm confidence.

I was introduced to the power of meditation through the martial art of Kendo, where each practice began with Mokuso—a meditative process of centering and preparing the mind. This foundational practice taught me how to anchor into a calm, resilient strength and channel it into purposeful action.

Zen and martial arts are deeply interconnected. For the Samurai, Zen offered tools to still the mind and harmonize the connection between body and spirit. Drawing on these principles, I guide others as a certified mindful meditation instructor and somatic coach, blending traditional Zen techniques with modern approaches.

Through the lens of the martial arts mindset, I work with people who are motivated not only by the pursuit of inner peace but also by the active cultivation of resilience, focus, and strength to meet life’s challenges head-on with a balance and harmony in both mind and body.
